Easter's almost here...

Easter's almost here...

... and it's breaking out of it's shell!

What's Easter without M&Ms, that favorite candy which has been around since 1941, and during WWII the candies were exclusively made for the military, because they were practical and didn't melt in your hand (you've heard the slogan). They were originally manufactured in brown, yellow, orange, red, green, and violet. Tan replaced violet in 1949, and blue replaced tan in 1995. In 2002, Mars requested votes from the general public to add a new color from three choices. The choices were aqua, pink, and purple: purple won

In 1950, a black "M" was imprinted on the candies, but it was changed to white in 1954, the same year that the Peanut M&Ms were introduced. In 1988, the Almond M&M's were release for Christmas and Easter, then in 1992 they became a regular item.

So whichever color or type is your choice, have a few in celebration of this great American Easter tradition!
